The MACS is located inside the Badia Piccola of the Monastery of San Benedetto in via Crociferi in Catania and since 2013 has hosted Sicilian, Italian and international artists, with various exhibitions of contemporary figurative art.
In harmony with the splendid setting that hosts it and with the beautiful frescoes of the Church of San Benedetto, annexed to the Monastery, the MacS combines eighteenth-century architectural beauty with the modernity of contemporary art; the museum is in fact the link that starts from the distant Baroque pictorial tradition to arrive at the contemporary and whose objective is to enhance the cultural assets of the Sicilian heritage, often creating cultural partnerships with equally prestigious historical-artistic containers, and promoting knowledge of the Italian and international contemporary art, giving space to young emerging talents and already established artists.
