The Museo di Sant'Agostino is located in Genoa, situated in the complex of the former convent of the Augustinian Hermits, dating back to the thirteenth century.
The Museo di Sant'Agostino is the most important for sculpture in Liguria. It offers a journey through the history of Genoese sculpture up to the most recent periods with artifacts from the 10th to the 18th century.
Within the museum, particular interest lies in the collections of frescoes, paintings, and panel works from the 1200s to the 1500s, the collection of ceramic works which is a testament to the era of trade in the Mediterranean basin.
The exhibition venue of the Museo di Sant'Agostino allows for a comprehensive journey into the world of Genoese sculpture from the early Middle Ages to the modern era; its collections are also rich in detached frescoes and monumental painting works, making the visit articulated, varied, and rich in cross-references.
Alongside works by some of the great protagonists of Genoese art, such as F.M. Schiaffino, Valerio Castello, Domenico Piola, Luca Cambiaso, F. Parodi, the masterpieces of Giovanni Pisano and Pierre Puget stand out.
