Since 1872, the Quimper Museum of Fine Arts occupies the facade of a classical palace, on the cathedral square, in the heart of the charming and historic Quimper. Passing through the door you can discover the interior architecture beautifully redesigned in 1993. This contemporary wood and concrete environment houses a very fine collection of works of art, recognized as one of the most important of the French regional museums. Dutch, Flemish, Italian and French paintings from the 15th to 19th centuries stand alongside sculptures and decorative arts. The great names of art history resound there: Rubens, Boucher, Fragonard, Rodin, Modigliani ... At the corner of a room, it is possible to admire precious stones, including a specimen dating back to the Mona Lisa era. The particularity of the collection is based on art in Brittany (legends, everyday life, École de Pont-Aven, Nabis, Brittany in the 20th century).
