Il Pianto del Ghiaccio was born from the desire of MUSE and the Bonporti Conservatory to activate projects of exchange and comparison between knowledge to renew the dialogue with their audiences on the challenges of contemporaneity.

Five musicians, a glaciologist and an ecologist have created an algorithmic processing / sonification system to transform the annual trends of the Trentino glaciers into sound processes. Through a forecasting model it is possible to follow the evolution process of the glaciers from 2020 to 2101.

The installation can be enjoyed in free mode within an immersive sound space of Palazzo delle Albere. “Il Pianto del Ghiaccio” gives a present and future look at the condition of our glaciers, emphasizing their distressing dissolution.
