The seventh edition of Nature features the work of Mario Botta, a world-famous Swiss designer who graduated with Carlo Scarpa, worked with Le Corbusier and Louis I. Kahn and today is a master among masters.

Botta has created works and projects all over the world, including the SFMOMA in San Francisco and the Jean Tinguely museum in Basel and, in Italy, the MART in Rovereto. He is the creator and founder of the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture, where he created the Theater of Architecture, a place entirely conceived to show and discuss the architectural discipline, mirror of his interest in the staging of architecture which finds a 'further opportunity.

For the MAXXI Botta has imagined an installation made up of heterogeneous and highly expressive materials, ranging from the 1: 1 scale pavilion to the prototype of a facade to the models, sketches and photographs of a selection of his built projects. The “sacred and profane” theme that gives the exhibition its title is interpreted in the broadest sense of a sacredness inherent in every architectural gesture, from the purity of the materials to the sensitivity to the context. A catalog will be produced with critical texts and unpublished reflections by Botta himself on the inspiration of his work, an interview by Fulvio Irace and illustrated cards on the projects on display.
