Palazzo Merulana, born from the synergy of forces and shared intentions between Fondazione Elena and Claudio Cerasi and CoopCulture, is a space dedicated to culture and art available to the city.

The imposing Umbertine-style structure, once the Office of Hygiene, recovered thanks to a project financing by the Cerasi Foundation and SAC spa, now hosts a rich Cerasi collection, modern and contemporary artworks, mainly from the Roman and Italian school of the 20th century.

Palazzo Merulana is spread over four floors. On the ground floor, the Sala delle Sculture, a space with free access that houses the sculptural part of the collection and the Culture Concept Store, an extended and relaxed environment where the visiting experience is facilitated by the integration of informative services, ticketing, bookshop, and cafeteria.

The Salone on the second floor of Palazzo Merulana, where the majority of the collection is displayed, is designed and furnished as a large and comfortable living room, where one can relax, linger, and appreciate works by Mafai, Donghi, De Chirico, Cambellotti, Capogrossi, Balla, among others. The Gallery on the third floor is a dynamic space that hosts temporary exhibitions from time to time. Moving up, the Sala Attico, multifunctional, chameleonic, and versatile, where cultural initiatives and private events can be organized; finally, the Terrazza, a privileged place overlooking via Merulana.
