The Stelline Foundation opens its 2022 exhibition season with the show, curated by Vittoria Coen, by Stefano di Stasio Presenze altrove which is part of the MilanArt Week program (March 28 - April 3, 2022), the week that the Municipality of Milan, in collaboration with miart, dedicates to modern and contemporary art.
In this solo exhibition, which will take place from March 3 to April 3, 2022, about twenty medium and large-sized works are exhibited, including also unpublished canvases and papers, created specifically for this important occasion.
For Stefano Di Stasio, painting - experienced thoroughly, studied, loved, approached without leaving anything to chance - tells of a research free from the constraints created by momentary trends.
His oil on canvas paintings represent stories, dreams, recent or distant memories, created with meticulous attention to individual details, like the notes of a musical score. The works on paper, moreover, live as vibrations of the sign, the trace, the melody in which the artist immerses himself.
In the construction of the painting, geometric tears appear that open up to new perspectives and that, ideally, are connected to the first conceptual experiences of the late 70s.
In Di Stasio's work, human characters, animals, flowers (the rose), and objects (the piano) alternate, all with a strong symbolic value, in which the free interpretation by the viewer is a very important component of the artist's poetics.
