The artist's lighting project by the DMAV collective – which is part of the series of works created for public spaces (Doublin' in Trieste, Innumera in Aquileia, Living Bodies in Udine) – is an act of love towards the variegated world of underground cultures.
The contact with the roots, the sensation of the weight of our steps on the bare earth but also the absolute and risky freedom in following our inclinations, in search of a sacred that is rooted in this world. And it is the nature of the underground, in these times of accelerations and jumping borders, to accompany the multiplication of sounds and signs as if it were a possibility always to be updated. Provoking the sacred in the alternative and in aesthetic resistance is also a way of rediscovering the essential polarity that underlies the relationship between civilizations and the fund that supports them. The pulsations of the neon lights highlight this link : the elsewhere of the underground is always present, as a sacred space of re-enchantment , in the here and now. Rediscovering the relationship with the underground traditions of alternative cultures, DMAV has created a pulsation of red and bloody light: the words under | sacred | ground alternate creating a message of light and glass that fits into the landscape.
