Instructions for the use of the present tense is a work by Chaos, born Dario Pruonto, curated by Stefania Dubla and created collectively by the artist of the third cycle of Paratissima Factory, the Non Collective, by the Paratissima staff and people close to Francesco Convertini, better known as Ciulicchio. In fact, the sentence written in anamorphism on the walls of the third floor of the Artillery is dedicated to him, archigian, artist and member of the Paratissima staff, who died prematurely in June 2022. The work, which develops throughout the corridor, over 30 meters long , overlooked by the ateliers of the ten artists in residence, is an anamorphic writing that quotes a song by Mario Venuti, "Beethoven's masterpieces".
In fact, when crossing the corridor, the letters expand into very long black strips, cutting and at the same time connecting the doors of the artist's studios.
The work materially allows you to cross the darkness, to get lost in it, to get confused, and then stop to look from afar. From that distant point, and from that precise point of view, the letters are recomposed in their entirety and the sentence acquires legibility. A visual effect, which combined with the sense of the words, reminds us that pain, however obscuring it is, if looked at from a certain perspective, reconnects us to the beauty of the present. “In the dark there is a sense of light” .
