Hub India is a prolific exploration of the innumerable registers that characterize the contemporary art of the Indian subcontinent, a region of extreme importance in South Asia and which is playing an increasingly important role in the global world. With the presence of over 65 artists from ten of the most important Indian galleries and museums, the project is looming as the largest and most significant dialogue that Indian contemporary art has entertained with the Western world in recent times.

Hub India, curated by Myna Mukherjee and Davide Quadrio, was born as a project for Artissima International of Contemporary Art in Turin and then expanded into a tripartite exhibition created in collaboration with the Turin Museums Foundation and the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin.

Palazzo Madama - Civic Museum of Ancient Art | Disruptive Confluences

The exhibition at Palazzo Madama explores syncretism and hybridism through mostly three-dimensional works that connect and contrast the museum's extraordinary collection with the history of the Indian subcontinent, suggesting complicated stories of commercial and religious exchanges, dominations, imperialist residues and evolutions syncretic. Giving life to a hybrid imaginary, both veiled and provocative, the exhibition reveals narratives and relationships from a Eurasian perspective, but capable of engaging in dialogue and creating meaningful reflections with the two thousand years of history of a building, which reconciles a Roman door with a medieval courtyard and a baroque staircase. In this highlighting itself as a historical place of reflection of contexts and experiences that are also profoundly different, but in search of common matrices to identify new axes of dialogue.
