From 7 November to 9 January 2021
Artissima International of Contemporary Art is proposed for 2020 in the Unplugged version. A new formula, expanded in time and space, which brings together physical exhibitions, created with the Torino Musei Foundation, and digital projects: an acoustic version of the fair that focuses its attention on the instrument (the works) and the voice (the galleries).
With the title Stasi Frenetica , from 7 November 2020 to 9 January 2021 (preview by invitation on 5 and 6 November 2020), the museums of the Torino Musei Foundation - GAM - Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, Palazzo Madama - Museo Civico d 'Ancient Art and MAO Oriental Art Museum - will host a corpus of works from the Artissima galleries selected for this edition of the fair, offering a glimpse of what the public would find in the stands. A choral presentation on the theme of Frenetic Stasis, curated by Ilaria Bonacossa in close dialogue with the gallery owners involved.
A synergic work, born with and for the Artissima galleries, which is proposed both as a cultural project and as an opportunity for visibility and promotion for the most important interlocutors of the event.
The GAM, Palazzo Madama and the MAO will present a distillation of the historic sections of Artissima: the Main Section, which brings together the most representative galleries of the world art scene; New Entries, which offers emerging galleries on the international scene, and Dialogue / Monologue, in which galleries with a strong experimental approach present a single artist or the dialogue between two artists.
PALAZZO MADAMA - Civic Museum of Ancient Art
The Medieval Court, the ancient heart of Palazzo Madama, will bring together about thirty works identified together with galleries from the 2020, 2019 and 2018 editions of New Entries, the youngest and most experimental galleries open for a maximum of 5 years. Directed by Ilaria Bonacossa and Valerio Del Baglivo, the theme of frenetic stasis in this atmosphere takes on a disturbing and vaguely supernatural character. In the Court, the seat of the Artissima Unplugged Stasi Frenetica, the various construction phases of the building are visible, from the remains of the Roman gate known as the decumana to the medieval arches.
