Ca' Scarpa, the ancient Church of Santa Maria Nova in Treviso, is an exhibition space and vital center of activity which takes shape, in the orbit of the Benetton Studi Ricerche Foundation, of the closeness of Carlo and Tobia Scarpa. Restored by Tobia Scarpa and inaugurated at the end of 2020, it is the first to have been recovered among the buildings of an intricate complex belonging to the Finance Authority for many years.

The construction we see today took shape in the second half of the sixteenth century, within a vast area in which the oldest Benedictine monastery of Ognissanti and that of Santa Maria Nova merged, with the church of the same name. All this in the Napoleonic era followed the suppression of religious orders, becoming first a military hospital and then home to barracks. The church underwent various functional adaptations with the construction of attics and internal partitions, assuming a configuration that remained so even when, with the Kingdom of Italy, it became part of a barracks, and was not affected by bombs in the First and Second World Wars . After the war, the project to adapt the complex to the headquarters of the Finance Authority was born from the destruction and later, in the 1980s, the church was emptied of its nineteenth-twentieth century superstructures and recovered in its original wall system to house the metal structure. on three floors of a new "printed warehouse", more functional and stable than the previous one. In 2010, following the transfer of the offices of the Revenue Agency, the space remained abandoned, until its acquisition in 2018 by Edizione Property.

Ca' Scarpa today represents a new piece of the mosaic of places for culture in the historic center of Treviso wanted by Luciano Benetton and is part, together with the Bomben and Caotorta palaces, the church of San Teonisto and the Luisa and Gaetano Cozzi house, of the cultural spaces in which the activity of the Benetton Studi Ricerche Foundation is divided.
