L'Envol des pionniers is a museum in Toulouse that reconstructs the great adventure of the Aéropostale and the memory of the air force in Toulouse. The Aeropostale was an airline based in Toulouse: ancestor of today's Air Frane, it was the first transatlantic airline dedicated to the postal service and the transport of passengers. The museum was inaugurated in 2018, 100 years after the inauguration of the first major civil flight to Barcelona and is located on the ancient runway of the old Tolouse-Montaudran airport. Within the 700 square meters that make up the museum, the tour is divided into four major sections: "Montaudran", which retraces the industrial history of the site; "La linea", in which the challenges related to the Aeropostale are explained; "On airplanes and on men", in which the testimonies of those who took part in the adventure are told; "The courier and the territories", which conveys the sense of duty linked to the challenge of the airport. In each section, the visitor will be immersed in the pilots' daily life, through testimonies, personal objects, reconstructions or more playful experiences. In fact, it appeals to the different senses of the visitor through interactive audiovisual and multimedia devices. One year after its opening, L'Envol des Pionniers welcomed more than 40,000 visitors in 2019.
