Collezione Maramotti is a private contemporary art collection that opened to the public in 2007, in the historical headquarters of the Max Mara company in Reggio Emilia.

The permanent collection can be visited free of charge and by reservation, according to the wish of Achille Maramotti and offers a significant selection of over two hundred works that represent only a part of the iconographic heritage built up in forty years of passionate collecting. The collection has developed organically including above all paintings, but also sculptures and installations made from 1945 to today and presents works of some of the main Italian and international artistic trends that established themselves in the second half of the twentieth century . Over one hundred and twenty artists are represented with significant works that introduced, at the time of their creation and acquisition, elements of substantial innovation and experimentation in artistic research.

Since 2008, shortly after the opening to the public, alongside the permanent collection, exhibitions and projects commissioned to contemporary artists, young and mainly mid-career, follow one another in the spaces of the building used for temporary initiatives. The works produced become part of the Collection, with the aim of merging acquisition practices and openness to their public use.

Collezione Maramotti looks to the future of art without interruption and with coherence with respect to the physiognomy of this collection, with an unchanged attention to the evolution of new artistic languages, in particular to painting and to the critical questioning on the status of the work of art. 'art.

Furthermore, thanks to collaborations conducted over the years, concerts, contemporary dance performances, themed conversations and meetings related to visual art projects were organized and presented.

The Collection exhibits and acquires the projects of the winners of the biennial award of which it is a partner, organizing their six-month residency in Italy, the Max Mara Art Prize for Women in collaboration with Whitechapel Gallery , aimed at emerging female artists based in the United Kingdom. The winners of the first eight editions of the award are: Margaret Salmon, Hannah Rickards, Andrea Büttner, Laure Prouvost, Corin Sworn, Emma Hart, Helen Cammock and Emma Talbot.
