On the occasion of the Dante exhibition of the MAR - Museum of Art of the city of Ravenna, A POP Epic, the third of the exhibition project “Dante. The eyes and the mind ”, from 1 September until the end of the exhibition on 9 January 2022, the installation by Edoardo Tresoldi is set up in the cloister of the museum. Tresoldi is the artist of "Absent Matter" and of metal mesh cathedrals, nominated by Forbes in 2017 among the most influential European under 30 artists in Europe. After the reconstruction of the early Christian Basilica of Siponto, awarded with the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture, the large Etherea installation in the United States for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival Opera, the intervention on the Lungomare di Reggio Calabria, the artist exhibits in Ravenna Sacral, built in 2016 and rearranged here for the occasion. Edoardo Tresoldi was chosen by the curator of the contemporary art path of the exhibition, Giorgia Salerno, to represent the theme of Souls to ideally reinterpret Dante's Castle of the Spirits of Magni with a large installation that allows the public to experience an imaginative place by entering in full dialogue with the surrounding landscape. The Noble Castle, also defined by the Poet in the fourth canto of Hell, is an emblematic place inhabited by those who left honor and fame on earth; They are the great spirits of antiquity, they are philosophers, poets, scientists and writers, with late and grave eyes, who in earthly life were supreme men for their moral qualities but are destined for eternal suffering because they lack the theological virtues. installed in the sixteenth-century cloister of the city's Art Museum, originally home to the monastery of the canons of Santa Maria in Porto, dedicated to the cult of the Greek Madonna that Dante mentions in Paradise, a canticle concluded during the Ravenna years, the public has the opportunity to physically enter the work, ideally in the Noble Castle and, in an almost performative action, retrace Dante's journey.
