To mark the acquisition of two works by the Master of the Hartford Still-Life, the Galleria Estense has commissioned new frames for the paintings. Of a type known as the “Salvator Rosa”, which are based on models from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries already in the museum’s collection. They were carved and gilded by hand following traditional techniques in a specialized laboratory in Florence. The frames were made possible by the Friends of the Gallerie Estensi.
