From 11 September 2021 to 13 February 2022, the Estensi Galleries present the Capa in color exhibition, an extraordinary selection of color shots by Robert Capa, a world-famous photographer. Curated by the International Center of Photography of New York, the exhibition is produced by the Ares Society with the Estensi Galleries and will be set up in the exhibition hall of the Estensi Galleries in Modena which, after the exhibitions dedicated to Steve McCurry and William Fox Talbot, will host a exhibition on one of the greatest photographic artists of our time. Robert Capa is internationally known as a master of black and white photography, but he worked regularly with color film until his death in 1954. Although some photographs were published in newspapers of the time, most of the color shots were not. still been presented in a single exhibition. The exhibition features over 150 color images, personal letters and notes from the magazines in which they were published.

Capa in color offers the unique opportunity to explore the strong and ten-year bond of the master with color photography, through a fascinating journey that illustrates society after World War II. His talent in composing black and white was enormous, but the discovery of the potential of color films, almost halfway through his career, made it necessary to define a new approach.

The exhibition was born from a project by Cynthia Young, curator of the Robert Capa collection at the International Center of Photography in New York, to present an unknown aspect of the master's career. Compared to what has been shown previously, the exhibition intends to illustrate the author's particular approach to new photographic media and his extraordinary ability to integrate color in photojournalist works, created between the 40s and 50s of the twentieth century. The exhibition was organized under the patronage of the Municipality of Modena.
