From 23 December to 31 December 2023
The project, curated by Annamaria Mauro and Laura D'Esposito, is dedicated to the fossil of the Julian Whale, discovered in 2006 on the shores of Lake San Giuliano, 8 km from Matera.
After the first room, dedicated to the discovery and phases of the difficult recovery of the Whale fossil, you find yourself immersed in a projection mapping in which the most advanced techniques merge into a work with great visual impact: 2D and 3D animation, compositing and motion graphics. This is followed by the exhibition rooms in which some already restored fossil remains and finds attributable to the fauna and aquatic plants of the paleoenvironment in which the whale was found are shown for the first time. Through a monitor the visitor will be able to follow the work in progress in the fossil restoration laboratory, set up in the Ex Palazzina Fio of the Ridola Museum; this story is completed by the comic “The Queen of the Abyss” (Osanna Edizioni).
