From 9 November to 4 February 2024
The exhibition Return to Ferrara. The universe of Leo Contini Lampronti, curated by Hava Contini and Yael Sonnino-Levy, is a journey that invites you to discover an eclectic, ironic and imaginative artist. Born in 1939 in Nice, but originally from Ferrara, Leo Contini Lampronti moved in Tel Aviv after earning a degree in nuclear engineering. Precisely in Israel, he explores and experiments with forms and techniques, dedicating himself completely to art and dealing with different languages, words and worlds.
His production ranges from drawings, Jewish ritual objects, sculptures, paintings and original creations, including tototomies, anascultures and ARKS. At the center of his interests is also an indissoluble bond with the city of his parents: Ferrara, physical and metaphysical, which comes to life in a playful and original way on his canvases and keeps its mysterious charm intact, suspended in time. The MEIS is a tribute to the artist who passed away in 2020 which also tells a piece of the history of Italian Jews in the twentieth century.
