Inaugurated in November 2016, the Quadreria Palazzo Rossi Poggi Marsili exhibits works by mainly Bolognese masters, belonging to the vast heritage of ancient pious works . In the rooms of the gallery, curated by Marco Riccòmini, about fifty paintings are exhibited, from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century.
Each room is themed and brings together similar works by era or style. The Gandolfi Room stands out, with seven canvases by Ubaldo Gandolfi , commissioned by the Marquis Gregorio Filippo Maria Casali Bentivoglio Paleotti , between 1768 and 1776, donated by them to the Confraternita del Baraccano, now reunited for the first time all under the same roof .
Since May 2017, the Quadreria Palazzo Rossi Poggi Marsili has opened its doors to a new room: the Map Room which contains a set of five maps by the printer Giuseppe Longhi and engraved by Carlo Scotti and Pietro Todeschi published in the second half of the 17th century.
Their public display celebrates the union of geographic study with artistic and figurative representation, the fruit of human ingenuity during thriving centuries of exploration.
