From 23 June to 3 September 2023
From 23 June to 3 September 2023, the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo presents Peaks of light. Naoki Ishikawa on the Orobie Alps , the second exhibition of the year designed on the occasion of Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023 .
With over 80 works , the exhibition, curated by Filippo Maggia and M. Cristina Rodeschini , brings together traditional 19th-century landscape painting with the photography of Naoki Ishikawa (Tokyo, 1977), creating a suggestive and exciting journey which, from renovated halls of Carrara, opens towards the territory thanks to two widespread projects: one in the plains and a second at high altitudes.
The exhibition opens and closes with two contemporary works: that of Matteo Rubbi entitled La tana del Drago and the video-audio installation by MASBEDO . Peaks of light, Naoki Ishikawa on the Orobie Alps thus recounts the experience of the mountain by organizing paintings and photographs in a consortium of visions that each person, each artist, returns in an original and personal way: approaching, walking, climbing, breathing, observing, drawing , paint, photograph, document, remember.
