From 29 September 2023 to 25 February 2024 Accademia Carrara presents Tutta in voi la luce mia. Painting of History and Melodrama , the last major exhibition to close Bergamo Brescia, Italian Capital of Culture 2023 .

Curated by Fernando Mazzocca and M. Cristina Rodeschini , the exhibition offers an evocative and exciting journey that tells, through absolute masterpieces of early nineteenth-century painting , a historical and cultural period capable of staging compelling stories and burning passions.

The itinerary finds its main nuclei in the reconstruction of the relationship between Hayez and Verdi based on the sharing of very popular themes such as I due Foscari , I Lombardi alla prima crusade and I Vespri Siciliani and so also in the series of paintings dedicated to tragic characters, such as Maria Stuarda, Anna Bolena, Caterina Cornaro, Marin Faliero, have become familiar due to their musical reworking by Donizetti from Bergamo and the frequency with which they appear, throughout Europe, precisely in painting.

Thanks to a scenographic display full of multimedia contributions, the exhibition will take you to discover the heroes and themes of Italian melodrama, restoring the likenesses of those who were the protagonists of this extraordinary world.
